Masters of the Wind Weekend

The Windjammers are coming to Marquette! Working in cooperation with Harbor Fest, the Marquette Visitors and Convention Bureau, South Shore Fishing Association and City of Marquette, the Maritime Museum has arranged for the best of the historic sailing ships to visit make a port call at Marquette from Friday August 26 – Sunday August 28. All will moor at Mattson Park right next to Harbor Fwhen ifest!

We are proud to announce three three Great Windjammers; General George Patton’s sail yacht When and If, in which he and his wife planned a world cruise when the war ended. When and If will be conducting daily “Sail Away” adventures.

 

pride_sailingThe War of 1812 topsail schooner Pride of Baltimore is a great crowd pleaser. She is an authentic reproduction of the famous Baltimore clippers that so bedeviled the British as razor fast merchantmen and daring privateers.

 

El Galeon                                                                     The magnificent Spanish galleon El Galeon, an incredible  replica of the ships that sailed the old Spanish Main! Such a unique collection of sailing ships has never before graced Marquette Harbor.

 

 

 

Pride of Baltimore and El Galeon will be open for tours from noon to 8pm on Friday and 10am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Price – $12 adult for both ships, $5 children under 12, under 5 free. Tickets are available at the Maritime Museum for advance purchase – 906 226 6014, or at the Mattson Park Ticket Booth during the event. Buying early can help avoid time consuming lines.

When and If will be hosting “Sail Aways” from 10am daily. If you have never experienced Lake Superior by sail, this is your chance. Price – $50 per person, limit of 28 people per trip.Tickets are available at the Maritime Museum – 906 226 2006 or at the Mattson Park ticket office during event days.  BUT BUYING EARLY ASSURES YOU OF YOUR SAILING ADVENTURE. THESE TRIPS SELL OUT FAST SO DON’T BE LEFT AT THE DOCK AS YOUR SHIP SAILS AWAY!
